Feb. 8, 1919 — St. Peter’s will erect a church and school on Monroe Street this summer in the block where the church is now located. St. Rose’s Academy, their current parish school, will be abandoned.

Feb. 8, 1969 — The LaPorte Jaycees have a petition for people to sign for an underpass or overpass at the Madison Street crossing at Friday night’s basketball game.

Feb. 8, 1994 — Norwest will buy LaPorte Bank & Trust. The bank has three LaPorte branches and one in Union Mills.

Feb. 8, 2009 —  In tough economic times, pastors at LaPorte County churches say attendance remains steady and in some cases stronger, a testament to the desire to find meaning amid the chaos.
