Crichfield Elementary is a Four-Star School once again

For the second year in a row, LaPorte’s Crichfield Elementary School is on the Indiana Department of Education’s list of Four Star Schools. Crichfield, which has also earned the designation several times in past years, is among just 234 schools to receive the designation this year.

The Four Star Schools program recognizes high-performing schools that meet these criteria:

  • A school must have received an “A” on the state’s A-F accountability system for the 2017-2018 school year.
  • A school must have tested at least 95% of students on ISTEP English/Language Arts and Math.
  • Combined ISTEP pass percentage (pass percentage of English/Language Arts ISTEP + pass percentage of Math ISTEP) must be in top 25th percentile for each grade tested.
  • Percent passing both ISTEP (percent of students who passed both the English/Language Arts ISTEP + Math ISTEP) must be in the Top 25th percentile for each grade tested.

“Receiving designation as a Four Star School reflects academic excellence among students, educators and the administration,” said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana superintendent of public instruction. “I am honored to recognize these Four Star Schools for their hard work and dedication in preparing their students for a bright and prosperous future.”

The only other school in the area to appear on this year’s list is John Glenn High School in Walkerton.
