Moments in Time, March 14

March 14, 1919 — Holding a meeting at Richter Hall, the returned soldiers and sailors of LaPorte perfected an organization. Officers were elected and committee heads named.

March 14, 1969 — President Nixon’s major goals: protect land-based forces against attack by the Soviet Union, defend against nuclear attack by Chinese Communists, prevent accidental missile firings.

March 14, 1994 — Indiana University’s School of Music ties for first place among the nation’s music schools and Purdue University’s Schools of Engineering is third in the nation.

March 14, 2009 — A Kingsford Heights man points a gun at another motorist, then follows the driver until reaching downtown LaPorte, where police stop him.
