LaPorte Hospital’s FREE community health screenings in April, May and June, 2019: Love your bones, protect your future

LaPorte Hospital will be providing FREE bone density screenings during the months of April, May and June in Michigan City and LaPorte.

Osteoporosis, which literally means porous bone, is a disease in which the density and quality of bone are reduced. As bones become more porous and fragile, the risk of fracture is greatly increased. The loss of bone occurs silently and progressively. Often there are no symptoms until the first fracture occurs.

Osteoporosis and the broken bones it can cause are not part of normal aging. There is a lot you can do to protect your bones throughout your life. You’re never too young or too old to improve the health of your bones. Osteoporosis prevention should begin in childhood. But it shouldn’t stop there. Whatever your age, the habits you adopt now can affect your bone health for the rest of your life. Now is the time to take action.

Screenings will be held at the following dates, times and locations.  No appointment is necessary; just stop by.

9:30-11 a.m., Apr. 11, LifeWorks Building, 3777 Frontage Rd., Michigan City
