April 16, 1919 — Hundreds of LaPorteans visit the war trophy train stopped at the depot in LaPorte this afternoon. Three cars were loaded with a captured cannon, weapons, gas masks, a captured German airplane, etc.

April 16, 1969 — Egyptian and Israeli troops battle across the Suez Canal for the 10th straight day. Israel also sends two jets into Jordan to strike at Arab positions.

April 16, 1994 — Non-violent work-release offenders will move from the county jail to the new Community Corrections Center at 500 Monroe St. soon. The building formerly housed the EMS.

April 16, 2009 — An Indiana State Prison walkaway from a work crew is caught using a computer at a Benton Harbor, Michigan, library.
