Sprague Devices in Michigan City welcomed a very special guest April 25, 2019, as they held a fundraiser to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Employees who proudly call themselves Kali’s Krew raised more than $1,400 for the foundation in honor of Kali, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a newborn. She is the granddaughter of 24-year Sprague employee Sherry Koth.

Kali’s Krew will also be participating in the 2019 Great Strides Walk to raise funds to fight the disease.

Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disorder that causes persistent lung infections and limits the patient’s ability to breathe over time.  More than 300,000 people are living with CF in the United States and approximately 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.

As the highlight of the fundraising efforts, Kali came to visit her new friends at Sprague and thank them for all their support.  Human Resources Manager Kim Burnette said, “Having Kali visit was a special treat for all of us. We do a lot of charitable events throughout the year but for our employees to actually meet Kali, see her smiling face, knowing she is such a little fighter, it really hits home. An event like this, coordinated by employees for employees, really illustrates the caring and compassion of our workforce and what it means to be part of the Sprague Devices family.”

The facility’s Employee Engagement Team members Cynclare Byrd, Tina Grillo, Brenda Ulam and Dewayne Ware coordinated the fundraiser.

Since 1941, Sprague Devices has manufactured windshield wiper and washer systems in Michigan City to all segments of commercial vehicle market including construction, heavy truck, bus, rail, agriculture, military, and specialty applications.
