May 17, 1919 — The United States agrees to keep troops on the Rhine and keep the U.S. flag flying over German territory for at least five years.

May 17, 1969 — Pat Lashinis, who was named LaPorte High School Invitational track queen on Tuesday night, is crowned LPHS prom queen at the Civic Auditorium.

May 17, 1994 — The LaPorte School Board sacks the seventh-grade football program, 4-3.

May 17, 2009 — Even though he got heckled, President Obama appeared unruffled as he urged University of Notre Dame graduates to listen to those who disagree with them and work to right wrongs.
