May 18, 1919 — St. John’s Lutheran Church voting members discuss plans to erect a parish building on B Street because the auditorium in their school building is inadequate for their increased enrollment.

May 18, 1969 — Apollo 10’s astronauts, blazing the trail on the moon, awake to breakfast on fruit cocktail and cornflakes today at 106,000 miles in space.

May 18, 1994 — John Daley will finish out his term as secretary-manager of the LaPorte County Fair. Louis Daube will have the position in 1995.

May 18, 2009 — Local businessman Ed Arnold is arrested and his wife, former Center Township Trustee Deb Arnold, could be charged after police bust an underage drinking party at their home.
