4 cats, 23 kittens in bags dumped June 6 at Michiana Humane Society; fosters, adopters, donors needed

From Johanna Humbert at Michiana Humane Society:

“At approximately 8:30 this morning (June 6, 2019), an MHS volunteer saw a pickup truck offloading eight carrying cases in front of the shelter, then driving out of the parking lot. As our volunteer approached the building she heard mewing.

“Staff jumped to get the cats and kittens out of the small bags they were stuffed into and move them into crates. The final count is four adults and 23 kittens. Some are still nursing, others probably old enough to be adopted.

“Thanks to Petey’s Fund for Sick Animals, we have funds available to cover the anticipated $1,500-plus cost of vetting, spaying and neutering all of these cats.

“If you have not supported Petey’s Fund in the past, today might be a good day to offer your help. Click on this link: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E344836&id=4

“We urgently need fosters to get the nursing mothers and kittens out of the shelter. If you can help, please call (219) 872-4499 today.

“And thank you for caring about what we do.”
