July 11, 1919 — The Our Pleasure Club met at the home of Mrs. Charles Glassman. Pedro was played at three tables and prizes were won. The club will have a picnic at Bluffside in two weeks.

July 11, 1969 — Shoppers turned out in large numbers for the first of two Sidewalk Days, but an 11:30 shower spelled instant chaos for most out-of -door displays.

July 11, 1994 — The State Board of Tax Commissioners cancels some $70,000 in back taxes on the former Hotel Rumely and the city will board the building’s deteriorating windows.

July 11, 2009 — Tony Raines moved to LaPorte when he was 12 to play baseball. But he found his true love, racing, at age 15.
