Bruce Seidelman, 1938-2019

Bruce John Seidelman, 81, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on July 9, 2019.

He was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Detroit, MI, to John and Helene Seidelman, who each preceded him in death.

Bruce graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture/City Planning. He worked for the City of Detroit, the U.S. Post Office and as a freelance photographer for several insurance companies. While growing up in the Detroit area, he played in American Legion Baseball, received a college scholarship for basketball, and continued to pursue his interest and love for art. Bruce enjoyed his lifelong passion of producing original artwork and drawings. He enjoyed following all sports and following his favorite professional sports teams. He also enjoyed reading and philosophy, helping others, and being a devoted husband. Above all, family was the most important thing to Bruce. He cherished his family and was overjoyed whenever he could be playing with and helping his grandchildren. His children and grandchildren, along with his wife Marlyce, were the number one joy of his life. Bruce is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives were touched by him.

He is the beloved husband to and is survived by his wife, Marlyce (Schoonover) of 47 years. He is the devoted father and is survived by Marisa (John Dungan), Renee (David Bromley), Richard (Erica) Seidelman, Anita (Christopher Wright), and Wesley Seidelman. He is the proud grandfather of Lauren Alicia (Zachary) Niceley, David Ross Bromley II, Bryce Nicole (Joshua) Salrin, Lincoln Grey Seidelman, Hudson Graham Seidelman, Neidra Naomi Wright, Berlin Elaine Wright, Samuel John Seidelman, Jaylen Xavier Seidelman, and Sydney Elizabeth Seidelman. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister and brother, Lois Hentschel-Gardner and John Seidelman.

Visitation will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte.
