UPDATE: Escaped prisoner apprehended at Beverly Shores home

A prisoner considered dangerous escaped from the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City at approximately 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. The escapee, Travis Hornett, a white Hispanic male, is 39 years old, 5’4” and about 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Hornett fled from a work detail on prison grounds and is believed to still be in the area. Hornett was wearing khaki clothes when he fled.

According to the Indiana Department of Correction inmate information website, Hornett was sentenced in 2018 out of DeKalb County for felony burglary. His projected release date was in May 2021. He also had prior burglary convictions.

Hornett is considered to be dangerous. If you see him, call 911 immediately and provide information on his whereabouts. Further details to come.

    why didn’t they send out an alert to cell phones? like an amber alert but for fugitives……

    You need to sign up to receive an alert from IDOC. They are pretty good about sending the alerts when there is an escape. I believe you’ll need to go to the IDOC web site or call the prison to learn how to sign up.

    A friend said they did send out an alert but gave NO details like what he was wearing etc. That is no help.
