Let’s enjoy a quiet moment in the country

WNLP photos by Mike Kellems

The parade is over; the fair is over. Maybe it’s time to pour a cup of coffee, take a deep breath and savor a scene from nature at its most beautiful.

From Mike: “This beautiful buck, a nine-pointer, was spotted near the Summit Farm. You’ll notice the antlers look thick and rounded, which means that it is still in the development stage known as “in velvet.” The antlers are covered in a fine fur that looks and feels like velvet. As the antlers finish growing, they begin to harden and the buck will rub the velvet off.”

Here’s hoping the buck lives a good, long life.

Beautiful pictures Mike. Thanks for shooting it with a camera instead of a gun.
