Edward Pitrowski, 1942-2019

Edward Pitrowski, 76, of LaPorte, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 8:43 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019, at LaPorte Hospital.

He was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to Edward Sr. and Ruth (Puckett) Pitrowski.

Edward honorably served his country in the United States Army from July 7, 1960, to June 30, 1966. While he served, he was stationed in Germany as an M.P. He was an iron worker for Iron Workers Local 395 until retirement. Edward was a member of American Legion Post 0703. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his world; they could never do wrong.

On Nov. 23, 1968, at St. Mary of the Lake, Gary, IN, he married Sharon (Sinks) Pitrowski, who survives.

Also surviving are his son, Edward Michael (Jacquelyn) Pitrowski of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Kristen Michelle, Nathan Edward and Edward Jack Pitrowski; one sister-in-law, Karen Choucalas; and one brother-in-law, Jerome (Kristine) Rukavina.

Preceding him in death were his father, Edward Pitrowski Sr.; mother, Ruth Pitrowski-Heaton; one sister, Catherine Weber; and mother-in-law, Dolores Anne Rukavina.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at noon Tuesday, July 23, at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, LaPorte, with Rev. Bill O’Toole officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
