James “Jim” King, 1942-2019

James W. King, 76, of Hamlet, IN, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at La Porte Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Tiptonville, TN, to Elvin and Syble (Lambert) King.

Jim was a laborer for many years at Howmet, from where he retired after 37 years. His favorite pastimes included fishing, golfing, bowling and gardening. Most importantly, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

On April 17, 1961, in Steele, MO, he married Linda Lawson, who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Steven (Kathy) King of  La Porte and Tracy (Trent) Boyd of Avilla, IN; 5 grandchildren, Bethany (Andrew) Brantley, Travis King, Katelyn Parsons, Jennifer Parsons and Ethan Boyd; 1 great-grandson, Evan; brother, Billy King of Alma, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, with Pastor Larry D. Owen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and from 10 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet.

Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.

    We always had a lot of laughs with Linda and Jim. May he rest in peace.

    Dear Linda, Tracy and family, I was saddened to learn that Jim passed away. My thoughts are with you and your family. It was such an honor to care for Jim. I’m so sorry for your loss.

    My condolences in loss of Jim, I bowled in the senior bowling league with him. A nice and kind person. God Bless your family.
