Charles VanSchoyck, 1945-2019

Charles E. VanSchoyck, 74, of Rolling Prairie, IN, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1945, in La Porte, IN, the son of Charles VanSchoyck and Gladys (Tague) VanSchoyck.

Charles retired in 2006 as a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 1485. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

On Oct. 25, 1997, in La Porte, he married Sharon Biege VanSchoyck, who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Bradford VanSchoyck of Saint Petersburg, FL; daughter, Sarah (Randy) Heminger of Shelburn Falls, MA; sister, Judy Williams of Tarpon Springs, FL; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny VanSchoyck and Ron VanSchoyck, and three sisters, JoAnn Raney, Sally Athenff and Susan Furloni.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, La Porte, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. A life celebration will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Joellyn Chadwick officiating. Private interment will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

    Sorry to hear of Chucks passing. My dad and Uncle Dick use to tip a few together and go mushroom hunting. They always seemed to have a good time. They would ride the countryside and chat about the old times. May God Bless his soul and my sincere condolences to his family and friends who knew him.

    Sharon .I’m so deeply sorry for your loss of Chuck .Hes at a better place, And You are all in my prayers and thoughts. Seeing You at Black Cat with the kids.
