Oct. 11, 1919 — The American Red Cross introduces a multitude of recreations suited to the handicaps of men in hospitals. A moving picture machine throws pictures on walls while men don’t stir from cots.

Oct. 11, 1969 — Helmeted police from Chicago and suburban Evanston break through a church basement door and arrest 41 radicals on charges ranging from aggravated battery to property destruction.

Oct. 11, 1994 — Kristen Batzer gets her best-ever time in the 100-yard butterfly and season-best effort in the 100-yard backstroke as La Porte topples South Bend Clay 108-78 at Slicer Pool.

Oct. 11, 2009 — The Indianapolis Colts’ perfect start continues after a win from the Tennessee Titans in their NFL-best 14th straight regular-season win.
