It was a reversal of fortunes for football in some respects as the final regular-season games played out Friday night, Oct. 18, 2019. The La Porte Slicers (2-7) achieved their second win of the season with a 20-14 victory over the Portage Indians (1-8) at Kiwanis Field. The go-to Slicer quarterback, Collin Bergquist, was sidelined with an injury from the previous week, so junior Robbie Kiner stepped in and made a number of successful pass completions that helped La Porte win the game.

The Michigan City Wolves lost a close game at Crown Point, 28-21, finishing the season with 4 wins and 5 losses. The South Central Satellites lost on the road to Hanover Central, 44-14, and New Prairie’s undefeated season came to a tough end with a loss to Elkhart Central on a last-second field goal that lifted the Blue Blazers over the Cougars, 31-28.

Sectional play will begin next Friday, Oct. 25, with New Prairie facing off at South Bend Riley. South Central will play at West Central. Michigan City and La Porte will face off against each other, however their sectional has a bye week, therefore their game will be played on Friday, Nov. 1, at Ames Field in Michigan City.
