Nov. 9, 1969 — La Porte loses its faithful “weatherman” and a prominent public servant with the death of Herbert J. Link, 78. He was serving his second term as clerk-treasurer for the City of La Porte.

Nov. 9, 1994 — Iraq formally recognizes Kuwait and its new borders for the first time in the emirate’s 33 years of statehood.

Nov. 9, 2009 — The La Porte Salvation Army will kick off its annual Red Kettle Fund Raising Campaign Nov. 20 at more than 10 stores around town. Captain Tim Farquharson needs volunteer bell ringers.
