Right on time: Santa arrives to make a dark day seem like sunshine in June

WNLP photos by Bob Wellinski

Santa and Mrs. Claus’ arrival made an otherwise dark day bright and shiny on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019. As is tradition, Santa rode by La Porte Fire Department truck and escorted to his newly renovated (La Porte Building Trades) chalet at Plaza 618 at Lincolnway and Monroe Street. Many other parade participants welcomed Santa, also. Santa will also be welcoming kids at the chalet on Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Dec. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. Ho, ho, ho!

We (The Slingshot Family) would like to thank the city of La Porte for allowing us to be in this parade! It truly is the highlight of our year!! It is such a big thrill for us to see the children’s faces as we hand them bags of candy! They are so very polite and their thank yous and Merry Christmas greetings just melt our hearts!! We are all looking forward to doing it again next year!! Merry Christmas!!!
