Dec. 2, 1919 — Queen Maria of “Roumania” departs for Switzerland to ask Former Emperor Charles of Austria to cede to her the right to the throne in Hungary.

Dec. 2, 1969 — The date on the first capsule drawn for the National Draft lottery was Sept. 14.

Dec. 2, 1994 — Kansas City quarterback Joe Montana says a published report on his retirement is wrong. After spraining a foot, rumors started that he would not be back next year.

Dec. 2, 2009 — About 400 kids participate in the La Porte Jaycees’ 39th Deserving Children’s Shopping Tour.
