The La Porte Slicer wrestling squad opened its season in strong fashion at the War on the Wabash over the Thanksgiving break. The tournament was hosted at Lafayette Harrison. The Slicers finished the tournament with a record of five wins and three losses. Three wrestlers were tourney champions in their respective weight classes: Tyson Nisley (138# ) Matt Neff (160#) and Jaeden Browder (182#). Nisley and Browder were undefeated while Neff has one loss by pin. Teams participating in the tournament were from around the state and included Columbia City, Daleville, Gavit, Goshen, La Porte, Lafayette McCutcheon, South Bend Riley, Twin Lakes, and host Lafayette Harrison.

Slicer Senior Matt Neff has his opponent wrapped up and pinned. Neff was the tournament champion in his weight class.

Slicer senior Drew Kubaszyk makes a move that later led to a pin.

Trae Anderson, a junior wrestler for the Slicers, pins his opponent as the ref calls it.
