Dec. 3, 1919 — A 60-year-old inmate of the county poor asylum is dead in bed this morning after he slashed his throat with a razor. He had cancer of the throat and had been morose and melancholy.

Dec. 3, 1969 — The grand opening for Cards Books ‘N’ Things at 716 Lincolnway, where McClellan Dime store formerly operated, is on Thursday.

Dec. 3, 1994 — The New Prairie Cougars’ win over the La Porte Slicers was the first since the 1987 sectional and the first ever at La Porte in boys basketball.

Dec. 3, 2009 — Motel robberies in La Porte, Chesterton and Berrien County, Mich., appear to be linked to one knife-wielding man.
