Are you Type O? Red Cross is especially asking for your help

After the holidays, when donors and drives are fewer, the American Red Cross has a critical need for blood donors of all blood types – especially Type O – and platelet donors. Right now, the Red Cross has less than a three-day supply of Type O blood.

Here are upcoming Red Cross blood drives in La Porte County. Just show up at a blood drive to give, or make an appointment ahead of time by calling 1-800-733-2767 or visiting redcrossblood.org.

Maybe if the Red Cross didn’t do away with locally ran office, there wouldn’t be this issue. It used to be a great thing, now it’s just some bureaucratically ran mess.

Regardless of how it’s run, we need to donate blood. Seems people always find an excuse why they don’t. Some day they or a loved one might need to receive blood. It isn’t that difficult to donate.
And yes, I am a blood donor.

No one is sorrier than I am about the Red Cross office; however, that is what seems to be our future for cost reduction and the lack of the age of Just Do It! (JDI) I am not here to create anger or arguments. I would like to jump in for half of the time needing to be covered.

I used to give blood and was happy to do it . Now they actually need my type O and I can no longer donate because of blood sugar issues . Our job here is not to point out what is wrong with the system it is to help other people ! If you can donate do it ,they need us .
