Slicer wrestlers heading to DAC Championships Jan. 18

The La Porte Slicers hosted the Portage Indians Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, for a Duneland Athletic Conference wrestling match. The Indians won the match 43-32; however, despite the loss, there were several close matches. Ashton Jackson ( 106 ) Tyson Nisley ( 145 ) Trae Anderson ( 152 ) Matt Neff ( 170 ) Jaden Browder ( 182 ) and Collin Bergquist ( 195 ) all won their individual matches. Jamal Salary ( 160 ) lost by one point in sudden victory, 6-5, in what was a very close and very lengthy match following three regulation periods and four overtime periods. The Slicer Junior Varsity squad lost to Portage by a score of 45-33. La Porte’s wrestlers will compete in the Duneland Athletic Conference Championships this Saturday at Valparaiso High School. Their final home meet of the season will be against Chesterton on Jan. 22.
