Jan. 22, 1920 — The La Porte board of public safety says punch boards must go and minors are not allowed in pool rooms. Violators, who may be hauled into court, will be prosecuted without fear or favor.

Jan. 22, 1970 — A speaker criticizes downtown Michigan City, saying only two shops impressed him with their service to customers and that the parking meter tokens cater to the merchant, not the consumer.

Jan. 22, 1995 — The Cat in the Hat lingered outside Majerek’s Hallmark and Readers World at Maple Lane Mall for photographs with children.

Jan. 22, 2010 — Justin Swanson, a six-foot-three, 250-pound South Central High School football player, is stabbed in a leg when he confronts a pair of surprised burglars in his home.
