Lawrence Andrew Ales, 1955-2019 (updated)

Lawrence Andrew Ales, 64, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 at La Porte Hospital and Health Services, La Porte, Ind.

Larry was born on April 5, 1955 in Galesburg, Ill. to Richard and Eleanore (Albert) Ales.

Surviving are his siblings, Laura Taylor of Austin, Tex., Leah Ditto of Bridgman, Mich., Lee (Dalila) Ales of Aurora, Col., Lloyd (Angela) Ales of Bridgman, Mich., and Linda Anderson of Cypress, Cal.; seven nieces and nephews: Elizabeth A. McAtee, Lucas (Elizabeth) Pansky, Madisyn Ales, Gavin Ales, Morgen Ales, Anthony Ales, and Isabella Ales; and great-nephews, Kelsen and Kyan Mc Atee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Andrew (Susie) Ales and Emilio (Sally) Albert.

Larry was a teacher and girls’ track and football coach for many years at La Porte Community School Corporation.  He was loved by his students and co-workers.  Larry was a sports fanatic, especially in regards to the Chicago Cubs and Bears.  He enjoyed basketball and golf.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1101 Michigan Ave., La Porte, followed by the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Father Ian Williams officiating.  A luncheon will then be served at the church with burial following at Union Mills Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family c/o Linda Anderson, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, Ind. 46350 or to the donor’s choice.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

    Rest well in heaven Coach Ales. Truly one of the good guys. My condolences to all his family and friends.

    Rest easy Mr. Ales! He was a very good teacher, funny and truly loved his students! My condolences to his entire family.
