Articles of Faith

 

Does your church have a brief news announcement?  “Articles of Faith” will be appearing on Saturdays on WNLP. Please submit by 5 p.m. each Friday your church’s news brief in order to be considered for publication for the upcoming weekend. 

The Presbyterian Church of La Porte

 Rev. Peggy Huston’s Lenten series of sermons will focus on “Stories of God’s Beloved,” about people in the Gospel of John. Sunday’s sermon is based on Matthew 4: 1-11, the Temptation of Jesus. Contemporary Cross Connection service is at 9 a.m. and traditional service is at 11 a.m. The church is at 307 Kingsbury Ave. in La Porte, is handicapped accessible, and child-care is available. Visitors are welcome.

“Twenty Minutes With God”

Community members are invited to take 20 minutes out of their lunch hour once a week during this time of Lent to attend services led by various pastors from the area.

LaPorte County Ministerial Association’s annual “Twenty Minutes With God” Lent series begins this year on Wednesday, March 4.

First United Methodist Church 1225 Michigan Ave LaPorte, will host.

Each of the five services will be offered at noon on Wednesdays and will last 20 minutes. The first service will on March 4, followed by March 11, March 18, March 25 and April 1.

This year’s speakers include Pastor Mike Sutton, Sabin Flore from People & Songs, Pastor CJ Ketchum, Pastor Dennis Meyer and Pastor Peggy Huston.

Each service will be followed by a free simple lunch. The ministerial association is thankful to this year’s lunch providers: Golden Living Center LaPorte, First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, Bethany Lutheran Church and Presbyterian Church of LaPorte.

The New Church
The New Church will host its annual spring sale Thursday to Thursday to Saturday, March 5 to March 7, 2020 at the Manna House, 905 Maple Ave., LaPorte, across from the LaPorte County Public Library. Saturday will be half-price day. Many items will be offered for sale.
The New Church offers this event not only as a fundraiser for the upkeep of its buildings but as a charitable project serving the community.

All are welcome at The New Church, which is located at 812 Indiana Ave., La Porte. This community-minded ministry offers a progressive, inclusive and loving Christian outlook. The church holds contemporary and traditional worship services on Sundays at 10 a.m., along with children’s Sunday School. Adult Sunday School is from 9 to 9:45.

St. John’s Lutheran Church and School
St. John’s offers two traditional services, 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday; 11 a.m. first Sunday of each month with communion. The church is located at 111 Kingsbury Ave., La Porte.
Also, the community is invited to celebrate the Resurrection by attending an event presented by the St. John’s Jubilee Ensemble, of La Porte, on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 3 p.m.
 “A Living Hope” is a free interactive musical event for all ages, with the Jubilee Ensemble performing at the La Porte Salvation Army, 3240 Monroe St. All are invited for refreshments and fellowship afterward, announced
