Mayor announces TransPorte’s new operating hours, free rides for specific purposes

 

As of now, the city’s TransPorte system will operate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is an update to TransPorte’s latest schedule.

Mayor Tom Dermody announced that Transporte will provide free rides Monday through Friday during those hours for the following purposes only:

  1. Medical Facility / Doctor Office Visits (please confirm your doctor’s office is still open)
  2. Pharmacies
  3. Hospital for medical appointments or employment ONLY
  4. Grocery Stores

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all other non-essential travel will cease effective March 25, 2020 through April 6, 2020, the mayor’s office said.

    Thank you Mayor, THIS certainly helps our residents. They are making minimum wage or just above minimum wage. To save $7 for a bus ride is wonderful news.

    Is there anyway you consider changing the hours maybe to 9:00 am to 4:00 pm?

    So what about the people that use transport to get to and from work at those grocery stores or other essential jobs? I know a few that uses transport to get to and from. Without it they won’t be able to get to and from work.
