State sheriffs’ association to sponsor youth leadership camp this summer

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) will be celebrating its annual Youth Leadership Camp in June and July, 2020.

There will be two camp sessions again this year.  The first session will be held from June 29 to July 2 at Pine Creek Camp in Pine Village, Ind. in Warren County, which serves the northern part of the state. The second session will be held July 7 to July 9 at Waycross Episcopal Camp in Morgantown, Ind. in Brown County, which serves the southern part of the state

The ISA’s camp is for boys and girls who are currently in the 7th or 8th grade of school and are interested in learning more about a possible career in law enforcement.

“The camp provides a very meaningful experience and relationship with other campers from throughout the state and deputies who serve as counselors and instructors,” said Captain Derek Allen.

Any 7th or 8th grade boy or girl interested in attending the camp should contact Captain Allen at 219-326-7700, ext. 2283, or email him at dallen@lcso.in.gov.  School counselors can also be contacted regarding an application and additional information.

Sheriff John T. Boyd announced that arrangements can possibly be made to provide the $25 camp registration fee through a local business or civic organization, for anyone interested.
