Kostas “Gust” C. Zissides, 1928-2020

Kostas “Gust” C. Zissides, 91, of Chesterton, Ind. passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

Gust was born Oct. 24, 1928 in Ano Mitrousi, Serras, Greece to Christos and Anastasia (Kaneli) Zissides.

Surviving are his children, Ann Buhner of Valparaiso and Peter Zissides of Chicago, Ill.; grandson, Evan Buhner of Chicago; two sisters, Marianthi Pantelides and Evangelitsa Hatsinikolaou, both of Serras, Greece; son-in-law, Dave Buhner of Valparaiso; and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gust owned gas stations and was a horse trainer at Chicago area race tracks before he retired in 2009.

He enjoyed horse racing, eating Greek food, socializing with others, and attending family gatherings.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 23 at  Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, where a Trisagion Service will be held at noon. Burial will follow at Door Village Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, the family and funeral home respectfully ask that everyone wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

    I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. He was a really nice man and always had a kind smile on his face. May he Rest In Peace.
