Election Board: votes in about half of the county’s precincts have been completed

The La Porte County Election Board has announced that “significant progress” had been made, as of the close of the business day Wednesday, in counting votes cast in Tuesday’s primary election. About half of the county’s 92 precincts have been completed.

The official final vote tally will not be determined until all of the votes have been counted, officials said earlier. WNLP will publish the breakdown of the votes when the entire final vote count is announced.

The unprecedented number of mail-in votes was causing the delay, officials said, who promised to return to the task first in the morning.
