They’re back: the first of three summer Night Bike Rides is this Friday

Restrictions from the COVID-19 are easing and life seems to be getting back to normal — as seen most recently by the city’s announcement that the annual Night Bike Rides are returning.

This Friday, June 12 the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department will host the year’s first Night Bike Ride, with the event starting and ending at Kiwanis-Teledyne Park. Registration starts at 8 p.m. and the leisurely 13-mile star-lit bike ride begins at 9 p.m.

“Please note this is NOT a race,” park officials said. “All participants must wear a helmet and have a headlight and taillight on their bike. Participants under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied and ride with an adult, either pulled behind or tandem, and require their own registration.”

Night Bike Rides are also scheduled for July 10 at Beechwood Golf Course and August 14 at the Civic Auditorium.

The cost for each ride is $20 per person ($25 night of ride) and includes a t-shirt (if registered one week prior or while supplies last), and snacks.

Printable registration forms are available at www.cityoflaporte.com and online registration is available at www.bikesignup.com.
