La Porte Physician Network to offer services at NewPorte Landing

A new urgent care center and primary care physicians’ office will open in La Porte next week.

La Porte Physician Network is relocating its urgent care and primary care offices from Legacy Plaza West to 401 Newporte Blvd. in La Porte, a part of the new NewPorte Landing development area.

There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at the new site. Pictured above, from left, are Mike Riehle of La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership; Mike Micka of Holladay Properties; La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody; La Porte Hospital CEO Ashley Dickinson; and LEAP Executive Director Bert Cook.

The urgent care center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, and will offer prompt, quality care for common illnesses and minor injuries. No appointment is necessary. Patients have the option of reserving their place in line before leaving home by scheduling online at www.laportehealth.com.

The facility will also house four primary care providers who are relocating from Legacy Plaza West:  Dr. Syed Shan-ul-Islam, internal medicine physician; Dr. Teresa Sharma, family medicine physician; and nurse practitioners Rebecca Ehrick, FNP, and Maureen Panares, DNP. Dr. Daniel DeGala, an internal medicine physician who is relocating to Northwest Indiana, will join the practice in October.

“The need for a prompt, quality, walk-in urgent care center at this growing location, and the opportunity to move four of our primary care providers to a more central location, will allow us to serve even more families,” Dickinson said. “It is also exciting to support the NewPorte Landing development and serve as one of the anchor services there. I look forward to watching its growth over the next several years.”
