Jacob Eugene Brown, 1934-2020

Jacob Eugene Brown, 86, of La Porte, Ind. passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home.

He was born May 12, 1934 in La Porte to Jacob Elmer and Edith V. (Patterson) Brown.

On June 20, 1954 in Greentown, Ind. he married Doris Kee.

Jacob was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS New Jersey BB-62 during the Korean War. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He retired from Midwest Steel as an electronic technician. After his retirement, Jacob worked for the State of Indiana as a signal technician.

Survivors include children, Karen M. Brown of Chicago, Ill., Kevin L. Brown of La Porte, Katherine S. (Daniel) Johnson of Valparaiso, Ind., Kristine L. (Michael) Flanagan of La Porte, and Kurt E. (Sue) Brown of La Porte; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife on April 26, 2011; parents; grandson, Jacob Yoder; and sisters, Lorraine and Alice Mae.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, where a celebration of life service with full military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.

Cremation will follow the service.

Due to the recent governor’s executive order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
