Sondra “Nonny” Kay Swain, 1943-2020

Sondra “Nonny” Kay Swain, 77, of La Porte, Ind. and formerly of Pinellas Park, Fla., passed away peacefully at 1:50 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home.

She was born June 11, 1943, in Joliet, Ill. to Harry Wiseman, Sr. and Irene (Logan) Wiseman.

Sondra was fascinated by Native American traditions, wearing regalia and making dream catchers and beadwork. She enjoyed traveling, gambling, desserts, Fannie Mae candies and family campouts.

On April 27, 1964, in Kankakee, IL, she married David Swain.

Preceding her in death were her husband on June 1, 2007; parents, Harry Wiseman, Sr. and Irene Nacey; brothers, Harry and Howard Wiseman; and sister, Beverly Greenan.

Survivors include children, Tina Webb of La Porte, Shawn Swain of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Brandi (William) Davis of La Porte; sister, Colleen (Don) McKinney of Joliet, Ill.; grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob (Jessica), Holly (Matt), Amanda, Summer and Dustin; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Bentley and Archer; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers and adopted family, Becky Tipps and Joe Adams.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100, where a funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will take place at Kent Fair Oaks Cemetery, Fair Oaks, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 in her memory.
