Articles of faith

Does your church have a brief news announcement? “Articles of Faith” will be appearing at the end of the week on WNLP. Please submit your church’s news brief for the upcoming weekend at wnlp@whatsnewlaporte.com.

Presbyterian Church of La Porte

The Presbyterian Church of La Porte will post a worship service on its Facebook page, laportepresbyterianchurch, at 8 a.m. Rev. Jennifer Burns Lewis, the Visioning and Connecting leader of the Presbytery, will lead the service that will include communion. Have the beverage and bread of choice ready at home. The bulletin and hymn music will be on the church web page, yourhomechurch.org.
At 11:30 a.m. there will be a parking lot service at 307 Kingsbury Ave. It can also be heard on the radio at 89.1 FM, though listeners must be within about two blocks from the church to hear it. The service will be provided by the church’s youth telling about their Mission Trip at Home experience. There will be no communion at the 11:30 service. Carillonneur John Gouwens will be out of town so there will be no carillon recital after the service.

St. John’s Lutheran Church

Located at the corner of Monroe Street and Kingsbury Avenue, St. John’s Lutheran Church has resumed worship services.

The Saturday evening service (traditional worship) will be conducted in the sanctuary of the church at 6 p.m. Worshipers will enter by the door under the portico (roofed) entrance or the double doors by the ramp on the Kingsbury Avenue. These will be the only two door available for entrance. Attendances will be taken at the door and offerings will be received there. Social distancing will be observed and hand sanitizing stations will be available.

The Sunday morning service (“CONNECT” service) will be conducted in the school cafeteria. Attendances will be taken at the door and offerings received there. Hand sanitizing stations will be available. Worshipers will then proceed to the cafeteria for the service, seated in chairs with social distancing in place. Be mindful that if response to this service is greater than the capacity available, additional services may have to be planned in the future.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

Mother Michelle Walker, Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, has announced that there will be two worship options: in-person and online. With careful planning and a downward (or stable) trend of new COVID-19 cases in LaPorte County, we are ready to begin offering both in-person and online worship.

There will be in-person for our 9 a.m. service. Masks are required. Social distancing will be enforced. Frequent hand sanitizing is encouraged. And please only attend if you have no signs of illness. If you do plan to attend, please register here. (Due to limited seating, we are registering people. Registration will close in the event we reach out seating capacity.) We also request that you review our regathering guidelines and take a peak at our seating capacity chart so that you may be best prepared to enjoy our service.

We are equally thrilled to share that we plan to continue live streaming. If you’ve already logged into and enjoyed our live streamed services, feel free to continue to worship with us that way. We realize not everyone is ready to be in public and we’re happy to offer our live stream option indefinitely. You can find us at St. Paul’s Facebook for LIVE from St. Paul’s on Sunday mornings beginning at 8:50am for our organ prelude and at 9am for Morning Prayer.

Holy Eucharist will be offered.

We also offer weekly:

Sunday 10 a.m. Virtual Coffee Hour via Zoom (connection details available from priest@stpaulslaporte.org)

Thursday 9 a.m. Morning Prayer & Bible Study via Zoom (connection details available from priest@stpaulslaporte.org)

Daily Office offerings at the Diocesan Virtual Worship Facebook Page, St. Paul’s Facebook
