Two grocery stores will probably be opened in La Porte by the Co-operative Society of America. Local members of the society will be secured. Similar area stores are under construction.

1970

George C. Wallace tells Alabama parents to defy a federal court and send their children to public schools of their choice.

1995

Five-year county police veteran John Boyd gives up highways for classrooms, teaching Drug Abuse Resistance Education to fifth graders at Wanatah, South Central, Westville and LaCrosse.

2010

People Engaged in Preservation buys the former La Porte Army-Navy surplus store downtown, with plans to return it to its original condition.
