NPHS news briefs reports the following:

Girls varsity volleyball

Varsity defeated South Bend Clay in three games Thursday. Sarah Kwiatkowski lead all servers with 12 aces followed by Elise Swistek (6) and Emma Fleck (4). Outside hitters dominated with Haley Robinson contributing 13 kills and Swistek chipping in 12. Emma Fleck dished out 30 assists to her hitters and libero Josie Troy had 12 digs in the contest followed by Kwiatkowski with 10. The Cougars see action this Saturday at the Concord Invitational.

Boys varsity tennis

New Prairie defeated John Glenn 3-2 Thursday:
No.1 Nick Boyd (NP) defeated Anthony Kaser (JG) 7-5, 6-2
No.2 Wrigley Hemphill (NP) defeated Brandon Goble (JG) 6-2, 6-2
No.3 Joe Delinski (JG) defeated Jacob Hannon (NP) 6-4, 6-1

No.1 Josh Ferrell/ Colten Kitchen (NP) defeated Matthew Moore/Colin Stephens (JG) 6-2, 6-1
No.2 Frankie Lizzi/Noah Dreibelbeis (JG) defeated Grady Lapczynski/Jackson Paarlberg (NP) 6-2, 6-2

The New Prairie season record is 14-2. New Prairie’s next match is Monday, 9-14-20: NIC Championships @ Leeper Park in South Bend @ 4 p.m.

Girls varsity golf

The New Prairie Cougars Ladies’ Varsity Golf defeated Jimtown 181-269 Thursday in the final NIC dual match of the season. Coach Bruce Watson indicated that the 181 was the 2nd lowest 9 hole score in school history. All players were excellent representatives of their school and community. Sophomore Jaiden Winters was medalist for the match shooting 44 followed by Freshman Jayden Flagg 45 (best score this season), Senior Jordan Winters 45, Freshman Jenna Bauman 47, Sophomore Macaria Tierney 55. For the JV team, Senior Zoie Martinez 56, Freshman Bella Beall 62, Freshman Maddie Gilpin 64, Freshman Hannah Kole 66, and Sophomore Ann Nelson 68.

New Prairie finishes the dual match season in the NIC with a 6-4 record and 5th place and 9-5 overall. This is the highest the Cougars have finished since joining the NIC. The Cougars compete Friday in the Pat Ford Invitational and then Saturday in the NIC Tournament.
