More than a dozen dogs frolicked in the sprinklers, or had fun watching, during Thursday’s Splash Bash fundraiser for the La Porte County Small Animal Shelter. Bethany Lutheran Church sponsored the fun at the splash pad just across the street from the church.
Goldens ruled, but also among the four-footed enthusiasts were a couple of black Labs, a collie, a pug, a boxer, a Yorkie, and a few Heinz 57s. Human attendees had fun watching the pooches, who got to greet one another and splash around without wearing masks.
Shelter Director Jane Bernard was happy with the turnout and hopes to repeat the event next year. “The dogs are having a blast; that’s all that matters,” she said.
