LCSO musician spotlight: Becky Osborn

A life-long music educator, Becky Osborn has been the pianist for the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra for 12 years, as well as the choral director of “Illuminations,” which performs frequently with the LCSO.

With degrees from Butler University and Valparaiso University, Becky taught high school choral music for 16 years before opening her own music studio, “Music of Oz,” in Crown Point, Ind. She also taught music appreciation and methods at Purdue University Northwest for 22 years.

She and husband, Greg, have two adult children and four grandchildren. Family time and being next to water is very important: they divide their vacation time between St. Joseph, Mich. and Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Becky and her best friend, Patty Flory, have made over 1,500 masks for various organizations. Becky is also a vital part of LCSO’s Hoosier Star event, sharing her expertise in vocal coaching with the contest finalists.
