Great shots: appreciating nature’s gifts

Maybe it’s the dipping temperatures, maybe it’s the later sunrise and the earlier sunset — but WNLP readers seem mindful that cold winter months are just ahead, and they’re making the most of what nature offers. Thank you to our local photographers who share these shots of nature.

Retired LPHS teacher and coach Corey Goers was out and about last night and saw this eye-catching sunset south of La Porte, near the airport, between CR-75 and 150 West.

La Portean Glen Richardson sent this panoramic of  last night’s sunset. Glen’s perspective is  looking west from Kesling Intermediate School; he was using an iPhone 11 Max Pro.

Corey also sent the above two photos, taken during a recent visit to Karma Vista vineyards.

Beautiful fall colors at U.S. 20 and CR-800 East caught the eye of La Portean Kevin Raymond last week.

“Sometimes in a crowd, you just gotta stand out!” writes WNLP’s Mike Kellems.

Ann Fraze sent this in last week: “This beautiful Cooper’s Hawk was resting on our hammock Sunday morning in Westville.”

“No ‘Ugly Ducking’ here,” says WNLP’s Beth Boardman. “A young swan preens as its image is reflected on a beautiful October afternoon. Still called a cygnet until it’s a year old, the swan hasn’t yet grown all of its snow-white feathers.”

Donna Maglio captured this sunrise from the Centers For Pain Control on Legacy Plaza West Wednesday morning. “Absolutely beautiful start to a new day,” she writes.

If you have a Great Shot or more to share, send them as .jpg attachments to wnlp@whatsnewlaporte.com. Be sure to include the photographer’s name and a bit of information about each photo.
