Jaime Oss, Republican candidate for La Porte Superior Court 1 judge

It is imperative that the Judge of LaPorte Superior Court No. 1 have high ability and high ethical standards. I have both. I also have the strength to do the right thing; compassion for victims, the mentally ill, and those navigating the justice system; and commitment to the community, service, and the rule of law.

I have worked on serious cases all over northern Indiana for the last 17 years, including wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases, like the Indiana State Fair stage collapse. I have led legal organizations and have received awards for my leadership and civility. I was appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court to the Indiana Innovation Initiative, a working group created to advance justice. From 2012 to 2014, I served as a Judge Pro Tem in Superior Court No. 1.

I will bring my commitment to ethics, civility, and professionalism to the bench. While a third of the people who come into the court are accused of committing a crime, everyone is entitled to be treated with respect and decency.

The Preamble to the Indiana Code of Judicial Conduct says, “The United States legal system is based upon the principle that an independent, impartial, and competent judiciary, composed of men and women of integrity, will interpret and apply the law that governs our society.” As Judge, I will be competent, independent, fair, and impartial. I will strive every day to respect and honor the public’s trust while advancing justice and the rule of law.

I plan to improve coordination with the jails, develop new procedures that will improve efficiency, pilot innovations, and work with our community leaders to improve juvenile justice and find solutions to the mental health and substance abuse issues that trouble our county.

I ask for your vote on or before November 3rd
