Nourish for Caregivers

Caregivers need care too.

Nourish for Caregivers is an adult support group for anyone juggling the challenges of life, health, career and caring for an aging or ailing spouse, parent, child or grandchild at home, in town or at a distance. It aims to support caregivers in finding peace, comfort and joy in their caregiving journey.

The support group is meeting the second Wednesday of the month at Sacred Heart Hall, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, Indiana at 6:30 p.m.  Each meeting includes a timely topic, participant handouts, discussion and prayer. There is no cost to the program.

Participants are asked to wear a face mask upon arrival. We will practice social distance seating and hand sanitizer will be available at the door.

The Presbyterian Church of La Porte

The Presbyterian Church of La Porte will again offer four ways to participate in worship services. Parishioners may choose to worship on Zoom, on a landline or cell phone, on Facebook live streamed or in their cars at the church parking lot, 307 Kingsbury Ave.

For either service via Zoom on a tablet or computer, everyone will be able to see each other, together as a congregation, and talk together after worship for an online “coffee hour.”

Contemporary Cross Connection service is at 9:30 a.m. Traditional Worship is at 11:30 a.m.; tune to radio station 89.1 FM. The bulletin and hymn for Traditional Worship are available on the church web site, yourhomechurch.org.

Both services can be viewed on Facebook at presbyterianchurchoflaporte.

Renowned carillonneur John Gouwens will perform a carillon concert after the11:30 a.m. parking lot service.

With COVID-19 cases rising, La Porte County is again in the “orange,” based on the data from the Indiana Health Department, so there will be no in-person worship Sunday. The City of Chicago has issued a travel ban for Chicago residents to Indiana. Until that ban lifts, Rev. Abbi Heimach-Snipes will lead services remotely from her Chicago home.

St. John’s Lutheran Church

St. John’s Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Monroe Street and Kingsbury Avenue, has announced continuation of its virtual worship for Nov. 8 and 15.  Due to the increase of Coronavirus cases, the difficult decision was made to revert back to virtual worship services.  This decision was not an easy one, but it was made out of love and concern for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

In the next two weeks, please join us for worship on our website at:
