Only immediate family allowed at Dec. 1, Dec. 3 swim meets

Due to spectator capacity limits, only parents and immediate family members will be allowed to attend the Slicer boys and girls swim meets vs. Michigan City on Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Thursday, Dec. 3, vs. Culver Academies.

New Prairie boys defeat St. Joe, 116-58, in 1st meet of season

The New Prairie boys swimmers and divers competed in their first meet of the season at home against South Bend St. Joe.

First-place finishers for the Cougars were: the 200 medley relay team of Wrigley Hemphill, Neiman Graham, Mason Young and Gabe Groves; Nate Podell in diving; Gabe Groves in the 100 free; Evan Lux in the 500 free, and the 200 free relay team of Gabe Groves, Neiman Graham, Roman Piergalski and Mason Young.

Congratulations to Mason Young for breaking the New Prairie school record in the 100 fly with a time of 53.15.

Congratulations also to St. Joe swimmers Gage Hannewyk and Sammy Sierra for breaking 2 NPHS pool records during the meet.

The Cougars’ next meet is Saturday, Nov. 28, at home against La Porte.

New Prairie girls swimmers defeat St. Joe, 106-75

The Lady Cougars defeated South Bend St. Joe this week in a meet that featured many new best times. Top finishers for the Cougars were: the 200 medley relay team of Leah Williams, Abi Walker, Landi Newcomb and Emma Tulacz; Leah Williams in the 200 free and 100 back; Isabel Hojnacki in diving; Landi Newcomb in the 100 fly; Emma Tulacz in the 100 free; the 200 free relay team of Emma Tulacz, Taylor Ostroski, Kylie Kepplin and Landi Newcomb; and the 400 free relay team of Sofia Barcevic, Rowan McNeely, Julia Guy and Leah Williams.

Swimming season best times tonight were: Emma Tulacz in the 50 and 100 free, Kylie Kepplin in the 50 free, Taylor Ostroski in the 100 free, Sofia Barcevic in the 100 free, Rowan McNeely in the 500 free, Destiny Schuck in the 500 free, Leah Williams in the 100 back, Julia Guy in the 100 back, Abi Walker in the 100 breast and 200 IM, Kylie Kepplin in the 100 breast, Bailey Bell in the 100 breast, and Landi Newcomb in the 100 fly.

The Cougars host La Porte Saturday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m.

Slicer boys fall to Riley, 69-48, in varsity basketball

On Tuesday, Nov. 24, South Bend Riley beat the Slicers 69-48, in varsity hoops.

Leading the Slicers in scoring were Grant Ott-Large with 19 points and Kyle Kirkham with 9 points.
