Man shot to death in Michigan City


A 26-year-old man was found shot to death in a Michigan City home Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The man was identified by Michigan City Police as Micah Garrett of Michigan City. Police discovered his body in a house in the 200 block of Fir Street after a 911 caller reported at about 2:30 a.m. that the man had been shot and was not breathing.

No arrest had been made yet as of midday Wednesday, but police said they have a person of interest. Police do not think this was a random shooting. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

In a press release, police offered sent their condolences to Garrett’s family.

Other emergency units responding were Trail Creek and Long Beach police, La Porte County Sheriff’s officers, La Porte County EMS, La Porte County Coroner’s Office, and Michigan City Fire Department.
