LP Presbyterian worship options

Sunday at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte is the first Sunday in Advent. The theme for Advent will be “Those Who Dream this Advent,” with resources from Sanctified Art, an artistic ministry and worship collective.

From Mark 13:24-37, Rev. Abbi Heimach-Snipes’ sermon will be on how the faithful can “Keep Awake for God’s Dreams.”

Both the Contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. and the Tradition Worship service at 11:30 a.m. will be provided live-streamed on Facebook at presbyterianchurchoflaporte; via Zoom; and at radio station 89.1 in cars in the parking lot at 11:30.

The bulletin and hymn for Traditional Worship are available on the church website at yourhomechurch.org.

Carillonneur John Gouwens will perform a carillon concert after the 11:30 a.m. parking lot service.

With COVID-19 cases rising, there will be no in-person worship Sunday.

Nourish for caregivers group meets monthly

Caregivers need care, too.

Nourish for Caregivers is an adult support group for anyone juggling the challenges of life, health, career and caring for an aging or ailing spouse, parent, child or grandchild at home, in town or at a distance. It aims to support caregivers in finding peace, comfort and joy in their caregiving journey.

The support group is meeting the second Wednesday of each month at Sacred Heart Hall, 201 Bach St., La Porte, at 6:30 p.m. Each meeting includes a timely topic, participant handouts, discussion and prayer. There is no cost for the program.

Participants are asked to wear a face mask upon arrival. We will practice social distance seating and hand sanitizer will be available at the door.
