LCSO musician highlight: Craig Forwalter

Craig Forwalter, a member of the LCSO Cello Section, began playing cello in the Portage, Ind., school system and also played cello while at Valparaiso University. After college, he moved to St. Louis where he majored in Theology in graduate school and stayed in Missouri for 20 years.

Craig moved back to the area in 1999 and served as pastor of a church in Wanatah. He began performing with the LCSO in 2000 and is in his 20th season.

After his Wanatah church position, Craig served as Hospice Chaplain for the VNA in Porter County and just recently retired. He and his wife now live in Chicago Heights, Ill., and he pastors a small church in Papineau, Ill.

In addition to performing with the LCSO, Craig is a member of a bluegrass band and performed with his guitar on many occasions while serving as a Hospice Chaplain.
