On Jan. 10 at about 1:28 p.m., deputies were advised of a stolen vehicle in the area of U.S. 20 and CR-700E. The vehicle, a yellow box truck, was reported stolen earlier in the morning. As deputies responded to the area, they learned the truck was seen traveling west on Bootjack Road in Rolling Prairie.
In the area of U.S. 20 and CR-250E, Deputy Wade Wallace saw the truck traveling west on U.S. 20. He caught up to the truck near U.S. 20 and CR-200E and noticed it was swerving. Near U.S. 20 and Fail Road, Wallace and Deputy Corey Chavez stopped the truck.
The driver was identified as Blake J. Brown, 28, of South Bend. The passengers were identified as Erica L. Tawney, 27, of Michigan City, Jacks R. Kramer, 23, of Michigan City and Summer L. Zitt, 22, of Trail Creek.
During a search of the truck, deputies found drug paraphernalia and a significant amount of illegal drugs. All four were arrested and transported to La Porte County Jail.
Brown was charged with Vehicle Theft (Level 6 Felony) and was being held without bond. Tawney was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe (Level 6 Felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor). She was also being held without bond. Kramer was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony) and Possession of a Synthetic Drug/Lookalike Substance (Class A Misdemeanor). He was being held on a $50,005 cash-only bond through Superior Court 1. Zitt was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 2 Felony) and Possession of a Synthetic Drug/Lookalike Substance (Class A Misdemeanor). She was being held without bond.
Assisting: Captain Dallas Smythe, Sergeant Andrew Hahn, Deputy Scott Lanoue, Deputy David Francis and Deputy Alex Pishkur.

What s lovely group. Pillars of society. I say if people are caught selling drugs give them a one way ticket to the wonderful paradise island called Alcatraz with no chance of parole. The prison is in rough shape but who cares.

Agree Judge, not sure what drives young people to drugs. From the looks of these four, they display sad faces even if not for their choices that brought them to this photo shoot.

I would be willing to bet that at least three of these fine upstanding citizens are graduated of the revolving door justice of our local courts. Plea bargain all charges rather than take the chance of losing a case. Probation no matter how many times they are arrested. Work release so they can pay the county to stay out of jail.

I say send them to Gitmo, Guantanamo Bay Detention Center located on Cuba’s Coast. At present time it only holds 40 prisoners and has room for plenty more. At the time of its establishment in January 2002, the camp was established to detain extraordinariiy dangerous people and to interrogate detainees in an optimal setting. Prisoners here have been classified as enemy combatants. These adults need to see a glimpse into their future if they continue on their present dead end path. Maybe this experience will open their eyes and give them the incentive to turn their lives around. Stop “slapping their wrists’ and sending them back out into our communities without serving due time for their crimes.
