Moments in Time … in photographs

Pictured here is the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant No. 1 Guard & Fire House on Jan. 26, 1942, shortly after its construction.

Jerry Lubs, son of Oscar and Cora Lubs, is the driver of this new 1938 Dodge Coca-Cola truck making a delivery to the McDonald Restaurant in La Crosse.

The Scott Street Market House Meats & Groceries pictured here was located at 107 Scott St. The building still stands at that location, now vacant. On the building are advertised Buster Brown Bread, Pearline Soap, and Snow Boy Washing Powder. Also, the “highest price (was) paid for produce.”

This was also Schultz’ Meats and Groceries as stated on the sign. My Grandfather Otto Schultz and Great-grandfather Wlhelm Schultz are in the photo. The store was next to the family homestead, also pictured.
